 Meet Rasputin!

I needed a little buddy in my apartment, and since I can’t have a dog, I got the next best thing… A FISH! He’s a pretty little purple and blue betta fish. He’s pretty spunky and just swims a lot and is a content little fellow. He is also afraid of heights.

Here’s the story: I have a bar top counter situation in my apartment and it is pretty high up off the ground. It’s almost shoulder level for me when I stand right next to it. When I brought Rasputin home, I placed his bowl on to the counter and went about the rest of my day’s business. I noticed that Rasputin didn’t really move much and I thought to myself, “I’ve only had you for like two hours if you’re dying already I’m going to be SO mad.” So I took him down from the counter and placed him on my coffee table to kind of check him out to make sure he wasn’t dying and he started swimming like a maniac! Thus… I discovered Rasputin is afraid of heights.

Another event this weekend was AOII’s annual chapter retreat.

Chapter retreat is essentially a giant sisterhood event held every spring semester. It helps the older members get to know and connect with younger members and helps us learn about AOII and what our sorority is all about. Unfortunately, due to work, I could only attend Friday’s portion of activities but it was definitely a ton of fun. We played a lot of different games to initiate bonding and a ton of laughs. One of the highlights was probably the banana game, where you had to move a banana from one end of the room to the other using only your feet. If you dropped the banana you had to go to the beginning of the line and start over. Very hilarious and very hard. Another highlight was definitely hidden talents. Who knew all the random things my sisters were capable of?! There was talking with their mouth closed, juggling, whistling, tumbling, and so many other things. My hidden talent is that I do the WORLD’S BEST Forrest Gump impression. Seriously. Tom Hanks is probably the only person who is a better Forrest Gump than me. We ended the night with a few other games and watching Pitch Perfect and a giant slumber party. It was definitely a lot of fun to just be silly with over 200 of my sisters.

Until next time!
